  1. Wash and soak the chana dal for 4 hours.Cut the bottlegourd into small cubes,make tomato,green chili, ginger paste.
    Add two tablespoon ghee in a pressure cooker,add a pinch of asifoedita, cumin seeds,whole spices, saute 4/5seconds till cumin is brown.
  2. Add tomato, ginger,green chilli paste, saute,add dry spices, half bowl water,saute till oil separates and moiture dries up.
  3. Add chana dal and bottlegourd cubes, saute with spices for 4/5 seconds, add one glass water, cover and cook until two whistles. At high flame allow one whistle, put the gas flame on low flame, then allow another whistle.
  4. Cool down the cooker,open,add one teaspoon garam masala, mix well, give five standing time and then take out in a serving bowl. SERVE HOT.
