  1. Mix rice & dal. Wash properly, add 5 cups water, turmeric powder & salt, mix well. Pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  2. Meanwhile heat clarified butter in pan add mustard seed when splutter add cumin seeds let it splutter now add whole red chillies, asafoetida & curry leaves mix well now add garlic ginger chilly paste saute for 2 minutes on low to medium flame. Add onions turmeric powder & salt & cook for 4-5 minutes.
  3. Now add tomato & cook till it gets soft, now add red chilly powder, garam masala powder & saute for 2 minutes. Now add 1 cup water & khichdi, mix properly & cook for 5 minutes. Add kasuri methi mix & switch off flame. Serve with rice papad, butter milk, onion tomato salad & mango pickle.
