- 2 chopped garlic
- 1 tsp hing
- 2-3 dry red chili 🌶
- 1 tsp Kashmiri chili powder
Steps to make to make Dal Tadka
- Soak both the dals together for 20-25minutes.After 20min in a press cooker add dal, haldi (turmeric powder) salt, oil and water. Close the lid and cook for 3-4 whistle.
- Now in a pan add ghee, heat it. Add cumin seed,, bay leaf and cloves. Let it cook on slow to medium flame. Add chopped garlic and ginger. Sauté it till raw smell of garlic goes away. Now add chopped onion and chilli. Cook till onion becomes translucent.
- Now add chopped tomatoes and salt, cook till tomatoes turns mushy.After that add coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, Garam Masala Powder and kasuri methi.Cook it. Now add cooked dal to it and stir it. Cook the dal with covered lid on slow flame for 3-5 minutes.After that add lemon juice and coriander powder to it and mix it.
- Now in a pan heat ghee, add chopped garlic, hing and dry red chilli. Cook till garlic is cooked. Now switched of the flame. Next you add Kashmiri red chili powder to it. Mix and pour over dal. Your dal tadka is ready to serve with Jeera rice. (See recipe)
