Ingredients and spices that need to be Make ready to make Kali Peeli Dal:
- 3/4 cup kali urad dal,
- 1/2 cup chana dal,
- Pinch hing,
- to taste, Salt
- 1/2 tsp haldi powder,
- 1 tbsp oil,
- For Tadka...
- 4 tbsp desi ghee,
- Pinch hing & zeera,
- 1 med sized onion chopped finely,
- 1 med sized tomato chopped finely,
- Pinch of salt,
- 1/2 tsp red chilli flakes,
- 1 tbsp dahi,
Instructions to make to make Kali Peeli Dal
- Take a mixing bowl, add both Dal, wash it nicely. Soak in water overnight. Strain it, keep aside.
- Take a pressure cooker, add dal, hing, salt, haldi powder & oil, add 4 cup water. Place the lid, give 5 whistles at high flame. Lower the flame, cook it for 10 minutes.
- Turn off the flame, allow it to depressurise naturally.
- Open the lid, whisk dal gently. Take out in bowl, keep aside.
- Take a pan, add ghee, heat it. Add hing & zeera, let it splutter.
- Add onion, stir fry it till light brown.
- Now add tomato & salt, stir it. Add very lil water. Lower the flame, cover it with the lid, cook it until oil has oozed out.
- Open the lid, increase the flame, add red chilli flakes, stir it.
- Add dahi now, stir it. Cover it again, lower the flame, cook it till oil separates.
- Pour this tadka over the cooked dal, do not mix it. Add chopped dhania patta.
- Mix it, serve it with Roti..
