  32. 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  33. 1 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped

  38. 1/2 cup garlic cloves
  39. 1/2 inch ginger
  40. 1 tbsp tamarind deseeded
  41. 1 tsp cumin seeds

  43. 2 tbsp+ 2 tbsp oil

Steps to make to make Dal baati churma with garlic chutney

  1. For churma
    Take mixing bowl add all ingredients of churma(skip almond slices & cardamom powder)mix it to crumbly texture now add ¼ cup of lukewarm water & knead stiff dough.
  2. Divide dough into equal portion & shape to ball, press finger slightly on centre of ball & pour little ghee in appe pan & roast for 7-8 minutes on low flame. Now turn to another side add little clarified butter & roast for 5 minutes on low flame.
  3. Break batti into small pieces & blend into mixture to fine powder. Add cardamom powder, almond slices & sugar mix well. Keep aside.
  4. For dal:
    Wash & soak dal with 4 cups of water for half hour. Now add salt & pressure cook for 3 whistles. Allow to release air from cooker.
  5. Heat clarified butter in pan add cloves, bay leaves, cumin, green chillies & asafoetida & saute on medium flame for ½ minutes. When cumin splutter add garlic paste & onion, saute for 2-3 minutes. Add tomatoes, coriander powder, turmeric powder,red chilli powder & garam masala, mix well & saute for 4-5 minutes.
  6. Now add dal, little salt & cook for 5 minutes, stir occasionally. Add coriander leaves.
  7. For battis:
    Take mixing bowl add all ingredients & â…“ cup lukewarm water & knead semi stiff dough. Divide dough into equal portion & shape to ball, press finger slightly on centre of ball & pour little ghee in appe pan & roast for 7-8 minutes on low flame. Now turn to another side add little clarified butter & roast for 5 minutes on low flame.
  8. For garlic chutney:
    Heat 2 tbsp oil add red chilli & saute for 2 minutes on low flame. Remove & keep aside. Now add garlic in same oil saute for 4-5 minutes.
  9. Now add ginger saute for 1 minutes, add tamarind saute for 1 minutes,now add cumin seeds again saute for 1 minutes now add salt turn off flame but keep stirring for 1 minutes. Let it cool, transfer to mixer jar, add sauted red chilli & churn for few seconds, now add 2 tbsp oil again churn to fine paste. It's shelf life is one month & can store in fridge for 2 month.
  10. Serve with onion rings & lemon.
